What do you consider your greatest accomplishment at this point in your life?
Raising my sweet, funny, energetic, strong-willed daughter!
What advice would you give to pet owners for maintaining their pet's health and well-being?
Preventative care and wellness exams stave off multiple of evils! Early intervention is often the key to addressing problems before our pets realize they're sick and before a minor health concern progresses into a serious illness.
If I were a superhero, my superpower would be?
Simultaneously reading fun books all day while also going about the rest of my life!
What's your favorite comfort food?
Anything chocolate, especially dark chocolate. And crawfish. But not chocolate crawfish....
What are 3 things people might be surprised to know about you?
- I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
- I was once the top youth soccer referee for the state of Mississippi.
- My favorite hobby is ballroom/Latin/Swing dancing, which I started as a stress reliever in veterinary school.
Why did you become a vet?
My love of animals started young, with family pets, but I was inspired to go to veterinary school by my grandfather. He grew up on a family farm in Simpson County and was responsible for a good bit of their animals' care. He kept horses most of his life and loved doing farm call ride-alongs with his veterinary friends. If circumstances had been different, he could've gone to veterinary school himself.
What do you love most about being a vet?
My favorite thing about being a veterinarian, especially in general private practice, is following your pets from their first puppy/kitten visit to their final farewell. I love getting to be a part of their full life journey, on both their best and worst days. I also really enjoy watching any human kids in your family grow up right along with them!
